UFO Searchlight was born from a simple question: What if we could see further?

Most searchlights stop at 15 kilometers. That is enough for ships and coastlines. But for those who look up – researchers, skywatchers, explorers – 15 kilometers is only the beginning.

We are building a system that reaches 100 kilometers+. A light powerful enough to touch the edge of the atmosphere. A tool for discovery.

The Founder

Hans van de Ven – Engineer, Entrepreneur, Explorer

Hans van de Ven is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in international trade, production, and logistics. His career has taken him from the shrimp farms of Venezuela to the renewable energy sectors of Europe and North America.

In 1995, Hans pioneered the first shrimp farms in Maracaibo, Venezuela – gaining firsthand experience in production, quality control, and global supply chains. This early venture laid the foundation for a lifelong career in sustainable resource development and international commerce.

In 2005, Hans founded a highly successful Dutch green energy company with production facilities spanning the Netherlands, Spain, and Canada. Under his leadership, the company grew into a recognized player in the renewable energy sector and was later acquired by an international energy corporation.

Hans later founded AlgeLink, a company he successfully grew and exited – a testament to his ability to build, scale, and deliver results.

Engineering & Innovation

Since then, Hans has worked as an advisor to multinational corporations, sharing his expertise in engineering, business development, and sustainable technologies – including:

• Solar energy
• Biofuels and biodiesel refineries
• Biogas production
• Lithium extraction from seawater and brines

His experience in building and operating large-scale production facilities gives him a unique understanding of what it takes to design, manufacture, and deliver high-performance systems.

Our Factory – A History of Building

Hans has designed and built multiple production facilities over the years. One of his most notable achievements was a large-scale manufacturing facility that housed:

• A gas processing plant
• A biodiesel refinery
• A stand-alone electrical power plant (remote location)

This facility was built from the ground up – designed by Hans and his engineering team. It operated for 18 months until it was acquired by a major international company.

That experience – designing, building, and operating large-scale industrial systems – is what drives the UFO Searchlight project today.
